Our lymphedema program is an innovative approach that can bring relief from your swelling and discomfort. We use the Vodder approach including manual lymph drainage, compression and education to relieve your symptoms and to help you manage your care.
The goal of our program is to improve circulation, decrease swelling and to teach you to manage your condition.
1. Manual Lymph Drainage
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a gentle massage-like treatment designed to encourage circulation. This treatment is comfortable and relaxing. MLD decreases swelling and helps to restore your extremity to its normal size.
2. Compression
Specialized bandages are applied following each manual lymph drainage session. Bandaging provides gentle comfortable pressure in the swollen extremity. When the swollen area has returned to normal, you are fitted with a compression garment.
3. Education
Our goal is to teach you to manage your condition independently. We discuss the importance of skin care and how travel and exercise affect lymphedema. Your progress will continue with a home program designed especially for you.
